Loving and Accepting Your Body

Free practice you can do everyday

Loving and Accepting your Body is not Easy

For years, I struggled with hating my body, unable to accept it as it was. This relentless self-criticism often kept me from fully enjoying eroticism and experiencing true pleasure.

Everything began to shift when I started exploring practices like shibari. Being tied, sometimes half-naked and in front of others, forced me to confront my body in a different way. I stopped seeing it only as something to critique and began recognizing it as a source of pleasure, connection, and strength.

Shibari helped me connect with my body in ways I hadn’t thought possible, but it wasn’t the only tool I’ve used on this journey. Recently, I’ve added a simple and transformative practice to my routine: standing in front of a mirror, touching different parts of my body, and appreciating them—not just for how they look, but also - for how they feel, what they offer me, and the pleasure they can bring. This practice reminds me daily to treat my body with kindness and gratitude.

Now, at 44 and embracing my curvy self, there are days when I find appreciating my body harder. And in these days, I turn to this practice to honor my body for everything it is, everything it offers me, and everything it’s capable of. If you’ve ever felt disconnected from your own body, I encourage you to give this practice a try.
